Two Fast Gold Routes for New WoW Forever Characters

Starting a fresh character in World of Warcraft: Forever does not necessarily mean waiting until higher levels before building your first gold reserve. Two short routes can give new Horde characters access to early vendor value, useful equipment opportunities and a chance at valuable container rewards.
The first route starts near the Orc and Troll starting area and can be completed very quickly. The second takes you toward the Stranglethorn Arena, where a successful chest run may reward higher-level equipment or additional inventory space.
| Route | Approx. Time | Possible Value |
| Orc / Troll Starter Chest | About 1 minute | Possible weapon or gear drop; some weapons may vendor for around 16 silver. |
| Stranglethorn Arena Chest | Around 7 minutes with a clean route | Potential level 30–40 blue or purple equipment and a chance at a Traveler's Backpack. |
Chest availability, loot quality, enemy positions, boat timing and route duration can vary. These routes describe the method and possible rewards rather than guaranteed income. Competition from other players can also significantly affect the result.
1. Route One — The Orc and Troll Starter Chest
The first method is designed for a completely fresh character. Begin in the Orc and Troll starting area and move toward the nearby coastal cliff.
The key landmark is a pair of crabs positioned near the shoreline. Rather than immediately jumping, watch the distance between them and identify the opening that gives you a clean path toward the water.
Reach the coastline, use the two crabs as your visual marker, enter the water and search below the surface for the hidden chest.
2. Follow the Cliff Toward the Coast
From the starter area, follow the cliff path toward the coast. Staying on the ridge gives you a clear view of the shoreline and makes the crab landmark easier to identify.
You do not need to fight everything along the way. The purpose of this route is simply reaching the jump location quickly.|
Route 1 — Follow the cliff from the starter area toward the beach.
3. Use the Two Crabs as Your Marker
Once you reach the correct part of the coast, look for the two crabs. Their position is the easiest visual reference for identifying the jump area.
Wait until there is enough space between the creatures and then jump toward the water.

4. Dive Underwater and Open the Chest
After entering the water, dive below the surface and search around the seabed. The hidden chest is the target of the route.
Opening it can produce equipment or weapons. If you receive a weapon you do not need, selling it directly to a vendor can provide immediate starter currency. In the route shown here, a possible vendor result is around 16 silver.
It requires very little preparation, can be attempted almost immediately after character creation and can provide enough starter currency to make the first part of the leveling journey more comfortable.
5. Route Two — The Stranglethorn Arena Chest Run
The second method takes considerably longer but has a more interesting potential reward pool. The goal is to reach the arena in Stranglethorn and open the chest before another player claims it.
A clean execution can take roughly seven minutes, although boat schedules, enemy positions and competition can increase the total time.
The arena chest may contain level 30–40 blue or purple equipment, and there is also a chance of finding a Traveler's Backpack. None of these rewards should be treated as guaranteed.
6. Step One — Use the Death Shortcut if Your Character Allows It
From the first route area, one shortcut is to drop down and allow the nearby hostile creature to defeat your character. After releasing and reviving, the route can place you closer to the next travel stage and reduce normal running time.
The method shown was demonstrated with a character below level 10, where the route is intended to minimize the cost of using death as transportation.
Do not use the intentional-death shortcut on a Hardcore character. For Hardcore, travel normally and only use the later terrain-routing techniques to reduce enemy contact. No outdoor route should be considered completely risk-free.
Route 2 Step 1 — Fast respawn shortcut for non-Hardcore characters.
7. Step Two — Reach the Dock and Wait for the Boat
After respawning or reaching the travel point normally, head toward the dock. The boat is the key transition that takes you toward the Stranglethorn portion of the route.
Boat timing can be the biggest source of variation in the advertised seven-minute route. If you arrive immediately after it leaves, your total travel time will obviously be longer.
Route 2 Step 2 — Wait at the dock and board the boat.
8. Step Three — Use the Tree to Break the Gorilla's Route
After arriving in Stranglethorn, the dangerous part begins. Stay toward the safer side of the route and avoid unnecessary hostile creatures whenever possible.
One useful landmark is a large tree near the path. Jump past the tree and use the trunk to force the nearby gorilla to take a longer route around the terrain.
The purpose is not to fight the enemy. You are using terrain and pathing to create enough distance to continue toward the arena.
Route 2 Step 3 — Use the tree to make the hostile creature travel farther around the terrain.
The tree technique is the useful part of this route for Hardcore players because it attempts to create distance without intentionally dying. However, enemy behavior can vary, so use extra caution and never assume the maneuver guarantees survival.
9. Step Four — Stay Left and Reach the Arena
Continue forward while favoring the left side of the route and avoiding dangerous enemy clusters on the right whenever possible.
Once the arena entrance becomes visible, the most dangerous travel section is nearly finished.
Route 2 Step 4 — Stay left and move toward the arena entrance.
10. Step Five — Open the Stranglethorn Arena Chest
Once inside the arena, locate the chest and open it if it is available.
The attraction of this route comes from the chest's potential value. Reported outcomes include level 30–40 blue equipment, occasional purple-quality items and a chance at a Traveler's Backpack.
Because the chest can be contested, arriving successfully does not guarantee that it will still be available when you enter the arena.
Route 2 Step 5 — Open the arena chest for a chance at higher-level gear or additional bag space.
11. Which Route Should a New Player Use?
| Situation | Better Route |
| You just created your character. | Starter Chest |
| You want the fastest simple vendor value. | Starter Chest |
| You want a chance at higher-level blue or purple gear. | Stranglethorn Arena |
| You want a chance at additional bag space. | Stranglethorn Arena |
| You are playing Hardcore. | Avoid intentional death shortcuts and use only conservative terrain routing. |
12. Farming Efficiency Depends on More Than the Route
A route that looks extremely profitable on one attempt can be much weaker when repeated. Before treating either method as a long-term farming strategy, consider chest respawns, other players, travel time, boat waiting and loot randomness.
Another player may reach the chest before you.
A valuable item on one run does not mean every chest produces the same result.
Boat schedules and enemy movement can change the actual route time.
A rare item may be worth more when sold to players than when immediately vendored.
WoW Forever Gold Route FAQ
Once you know the cliff and crab landmarks, the route can be very short. Around one minute is possible with a clean run, but the exact time depends on your starting position and execution.
The route is used because the chest can produce equipment, including possible weapons. If the item is not useful for your character, vendor value can provide quick starter currency.
A clean run can be roughly seven minutes, but waiting for the boat, avoiding enemies and competing for the chest can make it considerably longer.
The route is attractive because of its possible level 30–40 blue equipment, occasional purple-quality items and a chance at a Traveler's Backpack. Loot is random and these rewards are not guaranteed.
You should not use the intentional-death shortcut in Hardcore. The tree pathing trick can help create distance from a hostile creature, but Hardcore players should use a much more conservative route because enemy movement is never completely predictable.
High returns are possible only when valuable loot, chest availability and repeated successful runs align. There is no guaranteed daily income because the routes depend on random drops, competition and timing.
Chest routes can be useful for players who enjoy experimenting with farming methods, but farming still takes time and depends heavily on availability and RNG.
Players who would rather spend that time leveling, exploring or preparing another character can also compare additional currency options at LootWoW.
The starter-area chest is attractive because it can be attempted almost immediately and may provide quick vendor value. The Stranglethorn Arena route demands more travel and more risk, but its potential rewards are substantially more interesting.
Neither route should be viewed as guaranteed profit. The real advantage comes from learning the landmarks, reducing wasted travel time and knowing when a chest run is worth attempting.
For a new WoW Forever character, even a small early advantage can make the first hours of Azeroth much smoother.
